Raymond Scott's Electronium remains an enigma forevermore. Those luxurious panels adorned with knobs and switches don't need to be recreated because the music of tomorrow it inspires is infinitely more powerful. Fifty years later we are still talking about it, so this must be true.

The Electronium was designed as a Music Synthesizer to generate new musical phrases manipulated (steered) by a person to compose new music instantly. Raymond Scott called this the "Man-Machine" relationship when the composer (man) and instrument (machine) collaborate by suggesting ideas to each other. A novel idea at the time that has since become ubiquitous in what we know today as sequencers, drum machines, and the many composition applications since.

What you hear on this album was made entirely with a reimagined version of the Raymond Scott Electronium®. I reverse-engineered the many Electronium functions from the original hardware interface itself. The "G2ronium" patch created for the Nord Modular G2 synthesizer presents a working interpretation of the Electronium to explore what the instrument may have been capable of and experience the "Man Machine" relationship the Electronium was designed to fulfill.

released September 6, 2021

The G2ronium is available to the public directly from Raymont Scott’s son Stan Warnow, with who I collaborated on this project. You can read more about the G2ronium and how to download your copy at
